AI prompts for B2B marketing work

These are the prompts I'd give an AI assistant to put my guides to work on your own company. Each one points the assistant at the full guide, has it ask you questions one at a time, and ends with a finished file: a stage definitions table, an account list, a board report. I use Claude for most of my own work, so each prompt opens there first, and every one works in ChatGPT too.

If you'd rather keep a guide in your assistant for good, every guide and Field Note has a Download for AI (.md) copy and an Add to Claude as a skill download at the top of the page. In Claude, a skill stays available in every chat, so you can ask about stage definitions or account tiers weeks later without pasting anything.

Measurement and pipeline

Write your HubSpot stage definitions

A written rule for every lifecycle and deal stage, with owners, date stamps and exit reasons, ready for sales and marketing to sign. From How to build a B2B sales funnel in HubSpot.

Using Mark Barrera's guide at https://markbarrera.com/hubspot-b2b-funnel, help me write the stage definitions document for our HubSpot funnel. Ask me one question at a time about how we sell today: our stages, who owns each one, what counts as an MQL, SQL and qualified opportunity, and where reports disagree. Then give me the completed document as a table I can download, and list the three rules our teams are most likely to argue about.

Trace one deal from first touch to close

A dated record of one won or lost deal, showing where leads stall and which numbers to fix first. From How to find out why B2B leads aren't turning into revenue.

Using Mark Barrera's guide at https://markbarrera.com/b2b-leads-not-revenue, help me trace one recent deal from the first ad click to the last stage change. Ask me for the records one step at a time, mark which answers come from a system and which from memory, and when we're done give me the filled-in pipeline trace sheet plus the one finding I should take to the next sales and marketing meeting.

Check last week's qualified leads for junk

A weekly audit of spam, mislabeled partner referrals and bad enrichment data in your qualified-lead count. From Junk in qualified leads, and good leads marked as junk.

Using Mark Barrera's Field Note at https://markbarrera.com/field-notes/junk-in-qualified-leads, walk me through a qualified-lead audit for last week. Ask me for one check at a time, tell me what counts as a failure for each, and give me the completed audit sheet with what to fix first.

Set up "How did you hear about us"

A self-reported attribution field that sits next to tracked source, including AI assistants. From How much AI-driven demand does referral tracking miss?.

Using Mark Barrera's Field Note at https://markbarrera.com/field-notes/how-did-you-hear-about-us-ai-attribution, help me set up a "How did you hear about us" question for our forms and first calls. Ask me about our forms, CRM and sales process one question at a time, then give me the question wording, the answer codes and how to report them next to tracked source.

Accounts, positioning and pages

Build your ABM account tiers and committee map

A tiered target account list, the buying committee for each tier 1 account and the measures to report. From How to build an ABM strategy for a short list of accounts.

Using Mark Barrera's guide at https://markbarrera.com/abm-strategy, help me build an ABM plan for my company. Ask me one question at a time about our best customers, our market and our sales team, then give me a tiered account list, a buying committee map for tier 1 and the account-level measures to report, as a spreadsheet I can download.

Review homepage lines before anyone votes

Every candidate homepage line with its job, its buyer and the evidence behind it. From How to test B2B positioning before you rewrite the homepage.

Using Mark Barrera's guide at https://markbarrera.com/positioning, help me review our candidate homepage lines before leadership votes on them. Ask me for the lines and our buyers, then fill in the message review sheet: the job each line does, the buyer it's for, the evidence behind it and the test it needs. Flag any line whose claim we can't back up.

Plan a test on a low-traffic page

A test plan that says what you'll change, what would count as a result and how long it needs to run. From B2B conversion rate optimization and A/B testing with low traffic.

Using Mark Barrera's guide at https://markbarrera.com/b2b-conversion-rate-optimization, help me plan a change to one of our pages. Ask me about the page, its traffic and our sales cycle one question at a time, tell me whether a randomized test is realistic at our volume, and give me the completed test plan.

Search, AI and paid media

A tracking sheet of the questions your buyers ask AI assistants and whether you're recommended. From How to track what AI search tells B2B buyers about your brand.

A review of which keywords and campaigns to stop buying, judged on closed deals, before anyone touches budget caps. From Cutting paid search spend that isn’t paying back.

Using Mark Barrera's Field Note at https://markbarrera.com/field-notes/cutting-paid-search-spend, walk me through cutting our paid search spend. Ask me about our bidding setup, the target and our closed-deal data one step at a time, then give me the completed review sheet and the list of campaigns, ad groups or keywords to stop buying first.

Reporting to leadership

Draft a one-page board growth report

Five to eight numbers, each with its definition, source and comparison, on one page. From How to report growth to a board or acquirer.

Using Mark Barrera's guide at https://markbarrera.com/board-growth-reporting, help me draft a one-page growth report for our board. Ask me what the board asked for and which numbers we have, one question at a time, then give me the report with a definition, period, source and comparison beside each number, plus the decisions we're asking the board to make.

Check whether the lead plan still adds up to revenue

A monthly check of the numbers that tell you whether hitting the lead target will still hit the revenue target. From When the lead plan is on track and revenue isn’t.

Using Mark Barrera's Field Note at https://markbarrera.com/field-notes/lead-plan-hit-revenue-missed, help me check whether our lead plan still adds up to our revenue target. Ask me for this month's numbers one at a time, then give me the completed check and the one assumption in our plan I should question first.

Using these prompts in a Claude Project

For ongoing work, create a Project in Claude, add the Markdown copies of the guides you use most as project knowledge, and paste the prompt you need into a new chat in that project. The assistant then has the full guides on hand without fetching them, which also helps when a link can't be opened.
